James R. Townsend, Executive Partner

Jim started with the firm in 1979 and became a partner in 1988. Known for his keen attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards, Jim provides his clients with confident and effective representation in civil litigation matters relating to insurance law.

Jim has extensive experience at various levels of court including the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario at first instance and appeal. Jim has been on the Roster of Chairs for the Advisory Board of the Superintendent of Ontario since 1991 in the role of providing recommendations to the Superintendent regarding applications for licenses, as well as certain governance matters.

Jim enjoys spending time with his family and is involved with Saint Aidan’s Anglican Church of London. Jim supports The Salvation Army, Mission Services of London and volunteers with Out of the Cold, an organization that provides meals to those in need.
